Our 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was a great success.

We reflected on the past year, celebrated the impact made possible by our community’s support and looked ahead to the opportunities and challenges before us. Those in attendance learned more about the work being done to support women, children and families across the North Okanagan, heard updates from our leadership team, City of Vernon Mayor, Victor Cumming, and our Board. Attendees also connected with community and Archway Society members, partners, donors, volunteers and supporters who share our commitment to building safer communities.

We were honoured to welcome Margaret Y. Cissell, Community Leader and Advocate, as our guest speaker.  A trailblazer in the fields of women’s advocacy, social justice and community development, Margaret has dedicated more than four decades to improving the lives of women, children and families across Canada. A founding member of the BC Transition House Society, former Executive Director of the Kamloops Elizabeth Fry Society, recipient of the Governor General’s Award for Community Development and lawyer with experience in family law, government and Crown Counsel roles, Margaret brings a wealth of knowledge and insight shaped by a lifetime of service and leadership. Her inspiring journey of advocacy, community-building and justice promises to offer meaningful reflections on creating safer, stronger and more equitable communities.
