Each year, the Christmas Hamper Program at Archway Society grows, and this year we expect to be filling 75-80 hamper wish lists! We depend on support from families, community members, and businesses to fill these hampers! This ensures the families and individuals that have accessed our services throughout the year have something to brighten their holiday season.
What does it mean to be a Hamper sponsor?
A hamper sponsor is someone who shops for and drops off a gift basket or several packages for an individual or family. Sponsors receive a “wish list” of gift ideas and suggestions provided by the hamper recipient and then shop for the recipient within a set budget. For confidentiality reasons, sponsors do not have direct contact with the family or individual. Instead, hampers are dropped off at a central collection site for distribution.

Who receives a hamper?
Archway Society supports women, children, and families who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Christmas Hamper Program is offered to Archway clients, with wish lists created by the women and families. Having experienced difficult times throughout the year, both emotionally and/or financially, receiving gifts at this time of year can be incredibly meaningful. It’s not only about meeting a need—it’s about giving someone a reason to smile after what may have been a very difficult year.
What should I expect to spend per hamper?
Archway does not have an expectation for a specific amount, and we do not expect sponsors to purchase all the items on a client’s wish list. However, to help ensure that hampers are somewhat equitable, we would like to provide the following guidance:

| Parent with 1 child | $350 – $450 |
| Parent with 2 children | $450 – $600 |
| Parent with 3 children | $550 – $750 |
| Parent with 4 children | $650 – $900 |
| Parent with 5 children | $750 – $1,050 |
Should you have additional funds available in your budget, we would be happy to provide you with an additional family wish list. Alternatively, we welcome $25–$50 gift cards for places such as Superstore, Walmart, Village Green Mall, and other local retailers. These gift cards can be used to provide additional support in other ways.
What is the process if I would rather make a cash donation?
While purchasing items from a specific wish list is preferred, Archway Society greatly appreciates cash donations as well! If you wish to make a cash donation, please make your cheque payable to Archway Society and mail or drop it off at: 2400 46th Avenue Vernon, BC V1T 9N5
Alternatively, donations can be made online through the CanadaHelps website.
If you would like your donation to specifically support the Christmas Hamper Program, please specify “Christmas Hampers” when making your donation.
