Creatrix Rising Recap

After many months of Creatrix Rising workshops the artists finally got to see their work displayed so beautifully in the Exhibit, at Caetani Centre, and they were so proud of themselves. The main event on March 8, International Women’s Day,  brought in more than one hundred visitors to honour the women. It was a true celebration of each woman’s creativity, their accomplishments and journey. Eight artists contributed to the exhibit from clay work and poetry to acrylic and Encaustic paintings. Even though the exhibit wasn’t the main goal of the project, the ripple effects of sharing their art with the community has meant that more awareness has been raised about Archway Society and the work we do.

The true success of Creatrix Rising lies in the impact it had on the women who participated. Similar to peeling back the layers of an onion, at every turn of this project new ways could be seen as to how this art project was a benefit. Here are some comments from the participants; “Creatrix Rising has helped me in opening the door to the depth of creativity living inside of me. It has allowed me a much greater witnessing in myself, the surprise at how much more I have to offer than I ever realized”, “being a part of Creatrix Rising has challenged me to see my worth not only as an artist, but in my day to day life.”

Behind the scenes were so many great volunteers and partners that made it all possible. Hundreds of volunteer hours went into planning & coordination, into workshop offerings and the exhibit itself. The gifts from sponsors, partners and funders values a total of $13,715. This is so incredible and none of this could have been done without them. See below the list of all our amazing partners

I want to express gratitude to all Archway staff for contributing to the success of Creatrix Rising. Big thanks to Monica, for supporting the promotions and graphic design, Kim, for admin support, front line and program staff for promoting Creatrix Rising however you could with your clients, and Cyndie for graciously sharing the warrior women song as part of the opening celebration.

Additionally I thank everyone in the community for coming to view the exhibit.

Hears to hoping we can do this again,

Black Dress Gala 2024

Each year, Archway Society for Domestic Peace works extremely hard to provide a wide range of supportive services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in the North Okanagan community. On May 25, 2024, we’re excited to finally bring back the Black Dress Gala Fundraiser to help us with this mission.

This will be the first time this event has been held since 2019 and we are thrilled to bring it back to the community! As one of Vernon’s most popular events we know with your help we can make this our most impactful fundraiser yet!

Archway Society has been hosting this event for over eight years. This year, we’ve made a few updates, including a new venue and date. As you are aware, costs have increased exponentially since 2019, meaning support from local businesses is more important to us than ever before. A successful event will ensure that we can continue supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through community programs, we can provide accessible and free counselling for women, children and families, outreach services for women in rural areas, victim support through the justice system and advocacy services for children and youth who have been abused or neglected.

This glamorous ladies night event is being held at the Coldstream Community Hall. An evening of extraordinary women, style and celebration! Archway Society for Domestic Peace is pleased to be hosting the 9th annual Black Dress Gala fundraiser.

The evening will begin with a welcome beverage as you take in the glitz and glamour of the brand-new Coldstream Community Hall. Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner catered by the locally owned, award-winning Gumtree Catering. There will be an amazing Live auction as well as a raffle to win incredible prizes!  Then we will dance the night away with one of the Okanagan’s only female DJ’s – Sunset Sound Escapade DJ!

Proceeds from this event will go towards Archway Society’s community programs, supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. All funds stay in the North Okanagan and directly support Archway’s work with women, children and families.

For more information about the event, please visit our Black Dress Gala page.

Heart of the Holidays in Village Green Shopping Centre

The holidays are meant to be the most wonderful time of the year, but we know that for women and children experiencing domestic abuse it is far from this and can be a frightening and isolating time. Come see us in Village Green Shopping Centre at our Heart of the Holidays booth and find out the different ways that you can support Archway Society and the women and families that we’ve helped, and are helping.
Monetary donations are always welcome, you can buy a raffle ticket for a luxury hardwood dog crate from Hope Springs FURniture, purchase one of our wonderful tote bags, learn more about our seventeen programs we offer or about becoming a volunteer!
We couldn’t do it without our 2023 Booth sponsors! a big shout out to Lake City Casinos, SilverRock Land Corp and World Health and Fitness
